Throughout the hundreds of years that education has been in existence it has undergone drastic changes and alterations that have brought the education system to where it is today. Although the education system has endured many changes, the role of a teacher has not changed. Teacher’s are absolutely instrumental in his or hers student’s development and need to recognize their own background and experiences in order to develop their own theories and philosophies for teaching. In my autobiographical paper I am going to be outlining my background and experiences to provide insight to the beliefs I hold and want to incorporate to my classroom in the future.

As an educator it is so very important to have personal aspirations for my future classroom in order to engage my future students in as much learning as possible. My philosophy of education is simple, my aspirations and goals for my future classroom is to create a learning environment that challenges students to allow them grow to their full potential and develop their own unique love for learning.

My desire is to take students from all different levels of learning and help them reach their full potential by allowing them to learn in an environment that allows for expression and creativity. I want my students to be able to experiment with what subjects they like or do not like in order to realize their personal strengths and weaknesses. Once students have been carefully guided to develop this base of learning, then I can mold my curriculum to tie in each student’s specific interests and learning style so that they can truly relate to the material and find their own love for learning.  I want to teach my students in multiple ways; I want to instruct them with straightforward instruction, yet allow them the room to expand on ideas and come to conclusions on their own. I want to target several different learning strategies in every lesson I present to my class to fully engage every student. I also want to teach by allowing the students to speak in front of their peers and pose their own questions and try to answer them collaboratively based on what they have learned.  As a future educator, it is critical for me to remember that I have power to make change in my student’s lives; I can teach them all the material I want to, but at the end of the day I need to educate my students while allowing them to learn on their own so that they can find their love for learning that they will carry with them throughout the rest of their lives.
