This page contains orange colored links which lead to a variety of original lessons, presentations, and ideas I have created in order to develop effective lessons to enhance student learning.

INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO:

Here is an instructional video I created found in the Virginia Math SOL 5.8 for Geometry (Measurement) ; specifically finding the perimeter and area of a rectangle. The video is something that could be either presented during class time, or sent to students outside of class to assist them with by giving a step by step tutorial of how to find the perimeter and area of a rectangle.

(found below is a brief lesson plan with more information on the content behind the video, the video/ presentation itself, along with the product which is seen in the last few minutes of the video in the conclusion)

1.  Subject and Grade Level: Math (Geometry) – Fifth Grade
2. Topic: Finding the Perimeter and Area of a Rectangle
3. STANDARDS

A. Virginia Standard of Learning: 5.8

The student will be able to:

 ** a) Find perimeter, area, and volume in standard units of measure; **

b) Differentiate among perimeter, area, and volume and identify whether the application of the concept of perimeter, area, or volume is appropriate for a given situation;

c) Identify equivalent measurements within the metric system;

d) Estimate and then measure to solve problems, using U.S. Customary and metric units; and

B. National Standard of Learning: 5.G.B.3

The students will understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angle

4. Objective:

Given a paper with a rectangle and specific length and width measurements listed at the top of it, students will be able to find both the perimeter and area of the rectangle, with getting both the perimeter and area measurements of the rectangle correct. Objective:

 WEBQUEST/ WIKI LESSON:

The orange link below will lead to a Webquest that I created for a third grade class learning about the Butterfly Life Cycle.  The Webquest is interactive and allows the students to work outside of the classroom either individually or in a group setting with the necessary instructions and steps to learn the material and apply it.

INTERACTIVE WHITE BOARD LESSON:

The orange link below leads to an overview of an Interactive Whiteboard Lesson that I created for a 4th Grade Social Studies Class learning about United States Geography utilizing Smart Board Technology to keep the students engaged in an interactive and informational manner.

CLASSROOM RESPONSE SYSTEM LESSON:

The orange link below leads to an overview of a Classroom Response System Lesson that I created for a Kindergarten Health Class who is learning the Five Senses using an electronic review in the form of an online Kahoot.

SAMPLE LESSON PLAN:

– for a Third Grade Science class –

The orange links below both lead to a complete lesson plan (both the lesson plan itself and the material used during the lesson) designed for a third grade science class learning about the butterfly life cycle. The lesson includes interactive activities for the students, along with several different types of technology such as a video and a Powerpoint presentation.
